Art with Attitude

Art with Attitude

The Paint Cellar offers painting classes for adults and children. But don’t expect something stiff or boring at The Paint Cellar.  Ashlie Duncan, founder and owner of The Paint Cellar, calls her business “Art with attitude.”

The Paint Cellar was created with the idea and desire to show that art can be fun and easy.  All classes are taught by an experienced artist with step-by-step easy-to-follow instructions.  Classes are two to three hours long and all supplies are provided.  Class sizes are small, so participants can expect plenty of individual attention from the artist/instructor.

Ashlie started The Paint Cellar without a fixed location and held classes at various venues around the Indianapolis metro area.  But based on the great response, she soon realized she could justify the overhead expense of her own gallery and studio and she moved the business into commercial space in Carmel.  A second gallery/studio opened in Fortville in late 2012.  The Paint Cellar is still mobile, though, and offers private parties at a client’s location.

Ashlie first came to the Central ISBDC in November, 2011 as she was developing plans for her new venture.  The ISBDC staff helped her identify what she had to do to get her business started on the right foot and provided advice and encouragement as Ashlie began operations and experienced growth.  Ashlie continues to contact the ISBDC with questions as business issues come up and she needs information and advice.
