A Letter from Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann
One of Governor Pence and my proudest accomplishments early in our administration was establishing the Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship as a stand-alone agency within the Office of the Lt. Governor. This agency, under Jacob Schpok’s leadership, has expanded services and provided improved coordination and collaboration among the regional Small Business Development and Procurement Technical Assistance Centers.
The recently released activity numbers for 2015 validate that Hoosiers throughout the state are using the centers for valuable assistance as they develop new and expand growing businesses.
Experts note that economic growth is supported by the “churn” of new business start-ups and even failures. The OSBE team has helped to create an eco-system for entrepreneurship that will benefit Indiana for years to come.
As we enter this time of transition, I am pleased Governor Pence has selected Eric Holcomb as my successor. I can tell you firsthand that Eric is a true public servant with a distinguished career first in the Navy and then working in government as Governor Daniel’s deputy chief of staff and U.S. Senator Coats’ state chief of staff.
Looking back, I am grateful to every Hoosier and Governor Pence for entrusting me as the 50th person to hold the office of Lieutenant Governor along with its statutory responsibilities. The opportunity to serve our great state has truly been a privilege and one that I pass along with great pride and even higher expectations to Eric Holcomb.
Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann
