News from the Statehouse

On January 6, Legislators will convene for the 119th General Assembly. The Lt. Governor’s Legislative Team, our Small Business Ombudsman, and I will be meeting with legislators to discuss small business matters important to all of you. In order to keep stakeholders up to date, we have created a blog that highlights legislation OSBE is tracking that will affect Hoosier small businesses.  Have an issue of great importance? Share it with our Ombudsman. To learn more about the 2015 Session, visit this website.

Branding: We’re So Hot Right Now

The Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center, and the Small Business Ombudsman all have new logos. These logos were inspired by the current ISBDC brand. Keep an eye out for material coming out soon featuring the new branding.

OSBE has also launched its own Twitter account which will feature content and happenings from ISBDC, PTAC, and the Small Business Ombudsman.

SBIR/STTR Technical Assistance

OSBE has an SBIR/STTR Program Specialist, tasked with providing business consulting to entrepreneurs interested in pursuing SBIR/STTR opportunities. Dr. Lisa Hoverman has over 15 years in proposal and grant writing experience; helping businesses obtain federal contracts and grants. The Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) program provides small businesses with opportunities to conduct research and development work for the federal government in the form of contracts and grants. It is our expectation, Dr. Hoverman will help Indiana businesses compete on more SBIR/STTR opportunities and grow our economy through commercializing new technologies. Learn more on the PTAC website.
