Indiana Innovation Day

On October 15th, the innovation advocacy group, Centric, will be hosting its annual Day of Innovation Conference and Indiana Innovation Awards Celebration. During this event, speakers across industry sectors will be presenting on the innovation process, how to sell ideas, effective teamwork, and prototyping new concepts (just to name a few). Through a partnership with the ISBDC, we can offer you a 25% discount by using the promo code ISBDC. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit dayofinnovation.com.

Entrepreneurship Pitch Program Expanding

Looking to bring a creative, inclusive entrepreneurship program to your community? You might want to check out PitchFeast. Here’s how it works… For $5 you get admission and a catered meal. During the meetup, three or so entrepreneurs will pitch their business, social project, and creative ideas to the crowd. Everyone votes on their favorite pitch and the proceeds of the event serves as a micro-grant to the winner. Once a winner is selected, it is expected that they return at the end of the year for a review session to share how they allocated the funds they earned at Pitchfeast. Feel free to contact Kendrea Williams if you’re interested in attending a future PitchFeast or bringing the model to your community.

Momentum

A new support program for Indiana’s health industry has emerged. The Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF) has long been the state’s leading connector for the broader Indiana health industry. This month, IHIF formalized their support programming for entrepreneurs and startups by launching Momentum. The Momentum program matches entrepreneurs with a diverse team of mentors in a 10-week program cycle. The goal is to help make companies more fundable by engaging industry leaders, seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and business consultants to tap into their knowledge and networks. Similar to an accelerator model, the entrepreneur is working on all facets of their business during this time with a focus on refining their business pitch and presentation. Graduating businesses are given opportunities to pitch to leaders in Indiana’s health industry. Interested in more information or how to apply as an entrepreneur, investor, mentor, or sponsor? Contact Andy Steen, Momentum Program Manager, at info@ihif.org orandy@kysciencecouncil.com; or visit IHIF on-line at www.ihif.org.

I look forward to sharing the State of Entrepreneurship next month and to continue assisting Indiana entrepreneurs to start stronger, grow faster, and work smarter.
