Digital Transformation Courses

COVID has forced businesses to move online—quickly. Before the pandemic, only 7% of Americans worked from home—today, that number is 25%.

To be competitive, your business needs to move too, but you have many questions. What tools should you use? How can you keep financial and personnel data secure? How do you maintain productivity when your staff works remotely?

To move online safely, you need information you can trust.

The Indiana Small Business Development Center is providing three courses that will teach you how to move more of your business online securely, safely, and successfully. 

Live, Virtual Introductory Course

Strategy, Risk and Security in Digital Transformation 
4 hours spread over two, two-hour lunch-and-learn online classes. Experts from Purdue University will cover topics including: 
  • Selecting the right online tools for your business
  • The process of moving online
  • Managing a remote workforce
  • Keeping secure once online

Self-study courses that conveniently allow you to learn at your own pace

Applying Digital Tools to Your Business Operations
Develop a baseline knowledge for leading digital transformation within your organization, including HR, operations, and growth.

Cybersecurity for Your Business
Understand the strategies and tools used to safeguard your business against hackers and other online threats.

Participants will receive digital badges from Purdue University for completing each course.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be registered to operate in Indiana
  • Must have been negatively impacted by COVID-19
  • Have been in business as of February 15, 2020
  • Non-profits, municipalities, and economic development organizations are not eligible to participate.

Fee:

The Indiana SBDC offers these courses through August 31, 2021 at no cost, thanks to federal funding provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration through the CARES Act. The value of each course, per participant, is $1,200.

1. Strategy, Risk and Security in Digital Transformation

Designed for: Small and Medium business owners, executives, and decision makers
Course Description
This course provides small and medium business owners with a practical guide to make informed decisions about digital transformation and cybersecurity to protect their businesses in an era of increased threat. Participants will learn uncomplicated ways to identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks associated with the digitization of their businesses.

Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
  • Understand how to integrate cybersecurity into business strategy, risk assessment, policies, change management,
    and personnel management;
  • Understand notification and disclosures, legal and regulatory issues, business continuity and recovery, and suggested
    public relations practices for this topic; and
  • Know what to do if their business gets hacked.
Structure
This is a live course offered virtually. Participants will be required to attend the course live for a total of 4 hours. An additional 36 hours of self-paced learning resources are available to participants online for a limited number of weeks and offline as a downloadable PDF of all course content and resources.

2. Applying Digital Tools to Your Business Operations

Designed for: Small and Medium business leaders, department managers, and IT practitioners
Course Description
This course helps participants develop a baseline knowledge for understanding and leading digital transformation within their organization, including HR, operations, and growth. Additionally, this course will provide leaders the tools to ensure that their organization is able to continue operating in the face of a digital disruption, minimizing its impact on customer experience, business reputation, and financials.

  • Create an individualized Transformation and Resiliency Blueprint that can be used for guiding business leaders in changes to the company.

The course will be self-study and self-paced. Participants will be required to complete a minimum 16 hours of training. An additional 24 hours of self-paced learning resources are available online for a limited number of weeks and offline as a downloadable PDF of all course content and resources.

3. Cybersecurity for Your Business

Designed for: Small and medium business leaders, practitioners, and employees
Course Description
This course provides businesses the strategy, education and tools to safeguard the business against security lapses. We
will cover process automation, distributed workforce, cloud migration, resiliency, third party, compliance, security, and data privacy, as well as the precautions every employee needs to understand.
