Leslie Kleppe has a real love for children. She is the mother of 5 and surrogate mother (as Executive Director at East Bank Learning Center) to more than 100. Leslie has been a Director for 15 years–at EBLC since 2006. In 2010, under the ownership of another company, the decision was made to close East Bank due to a lack of financial solvency. Leslie sprang into action. She worked tirelessly to find solutions in order to keep the Center open to save jobs, provide continuity for families and children, but when it was evident she had to do something radical, she purchased it! At that time, there were only 30 children–today that number is over 100. She has almost 20 employees helping her provide high quality early childhood education. East Bank is a place where parents have peace of mind that their children are in a safe, fun and educational environment that gives them a positive outlook on attending school.
Dedicated to providing cutting edge programs for her families, Leslie and her team have been recognized through many awards and designations:
- Hoosier Educator of the Year—2012
- Samaritan Counseling Center Leadership Award—2012
- Accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC)—a designation earned by only 8% of all childcare centers
