Jul 6th, 2009

Indiana’s Small Business Development Centers (ISBDCs) helped clients create an estimated 952 jobs; save 1,346 jobs; start 199 businesses; obtain $41 million in financing; and increase sales by $191 million in 2008.

More than 22% of all pre-venture ISBDC clients started a business after receiving business counseling services in 2008.

Small business that benefitted from ISBDC assistance experienced sales growth of 32.27% between 2007 and 2008—compared to 5.2% of U.S. business in general.

The $41,901,725 in capital raised by ISBDC clients receiving ISBDC assistance suggests that each dollar expended on the ISBDC program was later leveraged by approximately $11.38 in debt and equity capital.

The incremental performance of established business clients yielded $4.0 million in tax revenues; another $2.8 million in tax revenues were gained from pre-venture clients who started new businesses. The total amounted to $6.8 million in tax revenues, of which approximately $4.3 million went to the state and $2.5 million, went to the federal government.
