Brandy first came to the North Central ISBDC for start-up assistance in February 2004 which included business planning, financing, marketing, management, etc. After receiving 63 hours of counseling and attending six SBDC training courses, Brandy’s focus is on growth!
The SBDC began working with Brandy on the typical challenges every new business faces— creating a business plan, finding a location, funding, identifying advisors (i.e., accountant, attorney), developing marketing materials, and general management of her office to ensure productivity and organization.
Working with her SBDC advisor Jan Fye, Brandy officially opened her business, Integrity Investigations, Inc. on April 6, 2004, when she was able to negotiate a lease for a small office in a large South Bend commercial building. As Brandy continued to turn to the SBDC, they addressed a variety of issues including pricing, working her prospect list, collection policies, keeping and analyzing financials, producing templates for letters and forms that would allow her to spend less time on administrative work and more on the activities that would generate sales, and marketing.
As Integrity Investigations continued to grow, Brandy was encouraged to concentrate on marketing her business. In the spring of 2008, she began work with students at Purdue University South Bend (College of Technology), to totally redesign all her marketing materials—logo, stationary, business cards, etc.
Brandy has now been in business almost 4 years. Integrity Investigations’ employment has stayed fairly constant with 7-8 employees (administrative and surveillance). She receives constant feedback from clients that she is their choice mainly because of her professionalism and immediate attention to their needs. Sales have grown by 1,726% in this short time
“I came to the SBDC once I decided to open my Investigative Firm in 2004. I met with a counselor by the name of Janet Fye. Working with the SBDC has been a blessing for me and my business. They helped me get organized, start things off on the right foot, and stay on track. They have been a great resource and source of encouragement. I would recommend anyone starting a business or needing help with an existing business to seek help through the SBDC. I look forward to continuing to work with them over the years to come no matter how large my business becomes or how well we are doing.”
