As “eco-preneurs” Carl and Lorrie Lisek are helping clients focus on being “greener.”
“As an environmental consulting company, we help them implement programs to help them green their efforts,” said Lorrie, president of Legacy Environmental Services Inc.
The team works with a range of clients from municipalities and schools to large and small businesses to determine a sustainable strategy that may include funding through grants.
“We can help them reduce their carbon footprint and anything that has to do with ‘green,’” said Carl, vice president of Legacy.
Launched 10 years ago from a home office, the Liseks have seen steady growth over the years and they now have eight employees at their offices in the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana in Crown Point.
They also operate two not-for-profits that focus on lessening the dependence on petroleum through the use of alternative fuels, vehicles and technologies.
“We are very excited about the current opportunities and amount of green initiatives available for our company to grow,” Carl said. “But controlled growth is very important.”
The Liseks have been working with the NW-ISBDC since their early years as entrepreneurs obtaining advice and guidance on growth and development.
“Ten years ago we were in a home office and making a living, we were not looking to be a large company, but little by little we grew and we worked with the ISBDC to determine where we should go in the future,” Lorrie said. “We received business counseling and advice on how to move forward. The ISBDC helped us develop our vision early on. They helped us see we could grow larger and we could be more than what we thought we could be.”
“Once you start working with the ISBDC, it’s not that it’s one and done … there are a multitude of opportunities: networking mechanisms and a variety of classes,” Carl added. “They have become part of our institution, if you will. It’s a great partnership for us.”
