Steve Thrash
Business Advisor (PT)
Steve brings over 45 years of community and economic development experience, as well as starting and operating his own small businesses in retail, wholesale, development and distribution in the clothing, food, energy, and telecommunications industries. Most recently Steve gives back to the community in the form of business, entrepreneur, and student coaching, mentoring, consulting, and teaching.
Triggering Steve’s transition to part-time and project work, Steve led the start-up, growth, and sale of a 16-year LLC that provided energy and telecommunications solutions to rural utilities and their end consumers nationally. As CEO and member of the Board, Steve ushered the sale of that company through the diligence process and final sale to the New York private equity firm Kohlberg and Company. Servco LLC dba Service Concepts is now part of the South Carolina based industry leader AM Conservation Group. Upon fulfillment of his commitment to ensure a successful transition, Steve turned his attention to give back to the entrepreneurial community.
Steve transitioned the Indiana University seeded SOURCE Entrepreneurship Center to a neighborhood based 501c3 non-profit, and joined Ivy Tech Community College as an adjunct instructor teaching business and entrepreneurship in the School of Business, Logistics, and Supply Chain.
In 2022 Steve was asked to lead the Indianapolis region development of the new Ivy Tech Garatoni School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (GSEI). Steve initially served as GSEI Program Chair, Network Developer and full-time Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship in Indianapolis, and recently pivoted and currently now serves as adjunct instructor with the Bloomington Ivy Tech campus entrepreneurship program. Steve also facilitates community and private business development as Board member and / or advisor through his private consulting firm TPS LLC.
A graduate of Indiana University School of Business and completing Certificate programs at Ball State University (process consulting) and Harvard Business Online (entrepreneurship), Steve is celebrating 45 years of marriage, successfully spawning two college educated children working in the mental health, psychology and AgriScience research fields.
