Spiced Blends and Smart Business: Tivvia Brews Success
Entrepreneur Natasha Velisha brought the rich flavors of the Caribbean to Richmond in October 2025 with the launch of Tivvia. Specializing in herbal teas and spiced beverage blends, Tivvia is defined by its distinct character. Each blend is crafted to be brewed strong, offering an aromatic, full-bodied experience.
Natasha has built a multifaceted business that includes retail tea sales, curated tea tastings, workplace and community presentations, educational tea events, and beverage catering for select functions. She has also expanded Tivvia’s reach through wholesale partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
Working with the East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provided the structure and strategic insight Natasha needed to drive Tivvia’s growth. Business Advisor Clint Albert served as both a mentor and accountability partner. Maintaining a “no-impossibilities” mindset, Natasha stayed focused and on track with Clint’s guidance. He helped her identify operational blind spots and connected her to a broader network of local resources and support systems.
Natasha navigated both expected and unforeseen challenges with the resources and tools provided by the East Central Indiana SBDC. Through the process, she developed a stronger entrepreneurial mindset.
“Clint was an absolute game changer,” Natasha shared. “He functioned as an informational knowledge hub, granting me immediate access to a comprehensive network of local resources, people, and specialized business support systems, while providing a routine operational structure through foundational templates. He provided tools I didn’t even know existed and helped me build a healthier approach to entrepreneurship.”
For others considering working with the SBDC, Natasha recommends taking full advantage of the resources available.
“Utilize every free resource and structural tool the SBDC network offers before investing your own capital into paid services,” she said.
Since officially launching Tivvia, Natasha has already seen success in just four months and has recovered her initial startup investment. Looking ahead, Natasha has her sights set on international expansion, with future markets including Germany, Paris, and London.
“I am profoundly grateful to the SBDC,” she said. “Their guidance has truly transformed the trajectory of my life.”
