Don and Michelle Hawk fell in love with Dugan Hollow Log Cabin & Suites in Madison, IN as guests when they first visited in 2017. The historic 1830’s restored cabin and luxury suites offer guests calm and serenity, surrounded by the sights and sounds of Southern Indiana forest. Their family returned year after year, getting to know the owners well during their many stays and expressing interest in purchasing the scenic vacation lodge and cabins if they ever decided to sell. When then-owners Jim and Nancy approached retirement, they reached out to the Hawks to see if they were still interested. Excited by this opportunity, the Don and Michelle worked with Southeast Indiana SBDC to write a business plan, create financial projections, evaluate the financial health of the business, and determine how to secure financing. The Hawks became the proud owners of Dugan Hollow in January 2023, renaming the destination to Dugan Hollow Retreats, where they promise a stay that is private, peaceful, and luxurious.
